No COLA Adjustment for Social Security in 2010

There’s a great US News & World Report article on the 5 Big Financial Changes for Retirees in 2010 and the first one listed is a doozy. It’s widely believed that there will be little to no near term inflation which means that Social Security cost of living adjustments will likely be zero in 2010 and beyond.

No cost-of-living boosts for Social Security. Forecasters widely predict that a slowly recovering economy will produce little or no inflation in the near term. That’s generally good news, but not for Social Security recipients, whose annual increases are tied to consumer price changes in urban areas. Health care, a major retiree expense, is not expected to see the same price moderation as will other sectors of the economy. So it’s quite possible that Social Security beneficiaries will be seeing flat payments, but still face higher prices.

  1. Unless you’re living off of social security payments, you have to view this as a favorable development. With record budget deficits and government budget shortfalls everywhere, this is one of the few silver linings in the economic downturn.

Can you imagine if Social Security benefits were on the upswing? What can kind of debt would our children be facing? The system is already unsustainable as it is, which is why it’s so important to plan for your retirement future… the government simply can’t take care of everyone.

  2. Anna

I receive $1100.00 a month from social security which is the only income I have and after paying for my rent, lights and heat, I barely have enough money for food. I have been buying baby food to eat because it is cheaper. I rely on my increases from social security so I can eat. I really need my increases.

  3. rob grant

You’re either rich or nuts Britt. First of all those increases in social security were computed long ago. Secondly, inflation has already eaten up the last increase we received and then some. When is the last time you have been to the supermarket, drug store, pay real estate taxes or rent? All of these are skyrocketing!

You’re right about the government not being able to take care of everyone though. No they cannot take care of everyone when they are too busy shoving money into the pockets of banks and businesses who don’t even want it!

Britt, please do me a favor and get out a mirror. Place it under your nose and breathe on it. Let me know if it fogs up.

    Geesh!

  4. evie hayes

I am shocked and disappointed in Congress to afford themselves increases and those of us on Social Security are on the near to Poverty level with income from Social Security. How Government officials expect us to lvie on these small amounts of $’s provided for our years of putting the Man on the Moon, serving our coutnry in WWII, Kroea and Viet Nam, and inventing the computer age, yest we are ignored. Banks are bailed out, Congress gets increases in salaries. I would like them to test trying to live on Social Security to see if they could make it with rising costs, not only co-pays for Medicare, but also insurances Homeowner’s auto, groceries, fuel for our hosues and cars, and electricity sky rcketing. So, we take no vacations, we watch TV for entertainment (also rising in costs) and we try to eat healthy with minimal dollars to exist on in this day. Why not a stright across the board increase to bring us all above poverty levels, instead of bailing out banks who raise our interest rates on our credit credit, and profit. I am disappointed in our country when they forget those of us that got them to be where they are today with our inventions, our space movement, our knowledge to move the country forward. How disappointing that Congress must be so greedy to make us live at poverty levels while they are continuing to get increases.

  5. Our congressmen and senators oviously don’t shop for themselves. They’re chauffered and don’t buy their own gas or pay for vehicle maintenance. Still we Social Security Recipients need to write to them complaining like hell. I live on SSI I look forward to my COLA increase every year. 2010 will be much tougher than 2009 for us. Complain! Write to Obama. He claims he reads his mail.

  6. Kim Smith

To Britt, , I am SICK of hearing what our children will face. I have NO kids. A LOT of people were responsible with overcrowding , etc and knew we would NTO be good parents or we did not have the income for a kid’s needs. So please get off the ‘for the sake of OOUR children’ to the childfree.

We are SICK of hearing this BS.

Second to everyone else, inflation is up EVERYTHING I have bought this year exceot gasoline.

And the FERERAL workers are getting a 2 PERCENT cost of living adjustment in Januaray 2010. Just read it.

And congress always gives themeslves a raise.

The groups effect other than social security is veterana that get pensions . They too are tied to our COLA formula.

I am not sure about RETIRED federal workers. I think they may be tied to the social secutiy forumla.

But all they have done is suck the ss FUND DRY with the wars!!!

And evertime the Feds ned money, the rob the SS fund. That is a fact.

There is PLENTY of money if they would use it as it is intded, A dedicated tax used for a specfic purpose.

It was not designed to bail out the FEDS.

And to Obama , you loser, sit your butt home, stop preaching energy responsibilty while dragging yourself wife and kids all over the world for vactaions at the taxpayers expenese.

    This is Clintons JOB.

Also, seniors helped get you into office. So far, you have ticked off all your support groups .

I predict a one term for you.

  7. carole

i live on $725.00 per month. i can’t believe that those people in congress and OBAMA could look at us come election time and ask us to vote them in.i don’t receive hud for my rent.i pay more than 50 per cent toward rent.i no longer have a car /i cant afford it,i cant even keep my appearance up to parr.the cost of cable,i now only have basic channels.now, i hear we will not get an increase.no wonder i cant even get my credit score above 600.my bills are paid on time.but denied credit because my income is to LOW.i guess i can go out to work.then if i relapse the public will cry out where the mental health association !!!so much for OBAMA statement “spread the wealth around.”just another lieing politician to get to the top job.

  8. Bill

I agree with Brian. Let’s tie SS to Congrssional raises, and while we’re at it our health benefits as well. Then we could all be assured of a better standard of living.

  9. donn

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SOCIAL SECURITY RAISES NOT KEEPING PACE WITH THE REAL COST OF LIVING!! WITH NO INCREASES FOR 2010 AND BEYOND, MOST SENIORS WILL HAVE TO REDUCE THEIR LIVING COSTS EVEN MORE!! PERHAPS CUT OUT TV OR PHONE AND EATS OR GOING OUT! YET, GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE MONEY TO BANKS, CORPORATIONS WHO DON’T WANT OR NEED IT,FILL THE POCKETS OF THEIR CRONIES,AND WASTE MONEY ON RIDICULOUS PROJECTS AND EVENTS!! WE WHO RECEIVE SS WORKED HARD OVER THE YEARS FOR THIS BENEFIT. THIS IS NOT A HANDOUT!! ALL YOU WRITERS WHO SEMINGLY DESPISE THE ELDERLY EVEN BEING AROUND MUST REMEMBER, YOU WILL BE OLD BEFORE YOU KNOW IT. TIME PASSES BY QUICKLY. BETTER PREPARE, LESS YOU DESPAIR!!

  10. louie

last year congress did the worst job in history. we rehired them all back and raised there pay. whose falt is that? no matter what they do to us,we will not fire the bums! they cancelled the COLA perment. I’am 100% disabled and live off ss. but i also understand some people need money for new cars. that’s why this reverse tax on seniors & disabled will really help gm & chrystler. we’ve had it to good to long on social security. it’s time we tighten our belts and give back to the strugling auto workers & banks.

  11. Charles Interrante

People, write,call,e-mail your congress men.We must put a stop to Obama taking our increase away.We must fight back.

  12. HughG

I agree with you Rob, and Britt better get real with her comments, just ridiculous.

  13. John McGuire Sr.

The thought that COLA may be frozen for years to come is destined to cause both physical and mental hardships on the elderly who depend 100% on Social Security.

What health or government agency will monitor the debilitating impact on these poor souls and push for corrective action ?

  14. Rosemary

This is an outrage. I was an avid Obama supporter – I thought he was sensitive to the needs of seniors. They do not take into account energy and food when they look at inflation to decide the social security COLA. At lease that’s what I’ve read. Then what do they take into account? Energy and food prices are always rising. Whose property taxes do not go up every year? Whose rent does not keep going up? Everything is rising. We seniors will remember in 2012. Thrown under the bus.

  15. colette

I live on $1,200 a month. I also have rent, utilities, and very high medicine costs, even though I have a subsidy, my copays are extremely high. I guess we could all quit trying to live on nothing and go on the state and let the Britt’s pay the bill.

  16. Are you guys going to get involved in the decision NOT to pay cost of living increases for SSA recipients? This is the worst part of the economic decline and it’s hard enough to live as it is on Social Security. We look forward to this increase every year being it’s the only one we get. All of out bills will still increase but our income won’t! A $250 stimulus payment (which I never personally received) just won’t cut it and is an embarrassment as an excuse not to pay the COLA for the next two years.
This is a shame and I hope you decide to get involved. I will be contacting all of my the Congressmen and women and Representatives in my state DESPITE political affiliation to oppose or reverse this! Please get involved and help!!!!
Use this http://www.ncpssm.org/pdf/cola_senate_2010.pdf as template to write letter or just send your Congressional representatives a simple email asking them to oppose it. It takes a few seconds.

  17. Joan Wolf

Obama obviously won’t pull the plug on grandma…he’ll just starve her to death!!!

  18. bob

I’ll say it again: All jobs that are done by workers in foreign countries should be taxed and that tax money should be delegated to “our” social security fund. If the big company’s want to farm out work to foreign countries, they should have to pay into OUR social security fund to keep it solvent!

Another thing: Every time a high paid person has to pay income tax on his Social Security check earnings the money so collected should go directly back into the Social Security Fund. Not into the General Fund, to be squandered away by a bunch of bungling politicians!!!

  19. JeanD

I collect a Widows Pension and will be eligable for Medicare in 2010, I think it is outragious that we seniors are not going to get COLA this coming year. We need all the increases we can get to keep our lives independent and to not have to move in with a child or a relative or try to find a room-mate. Is there nothing that can be done? No where we can go to vote against this…..

  20. william mcgee

I agree with most people on this subject, I also need my increases in pay how do the politicians that are suppose to work for us be so greedy as to vote them selves a raise for accomplishing nothing and on the other hand say we need less after working most of our lives. I know i voted to hire them i can also vote to fire them, Remember senior citizens still vote more than younger people. Fire them all Obama first

  21. DAMIAN ALEJANDRO

WELL IT IS TIME TO GOVERMENT TO AID US THE ELDERLY..WE HAVE BEEN PAYING TAXES FOR MANY YEARS,AND WE HAVE BEEN IN MANY WARS FOR FREEDOM AD DEMOCRACY..AND NOW WHAT??? A LOT OF BAILOTS FOR BANKS AND CAR MAKERS..AND WE…ARE FORGOTTEN???

WE ONLY GET “FEW EXTRA BUCKS” EACH YEAR…FOR TO BUY A MEAL..NOT TO DRIVE LUXURY CARS…

‘DO NOT FORGET…YOU THE YOUNG ARE HERE
BECAUSE WE FOUGHT TO DEFEND FREEDOM”

I THINK WE DESEVE NOW A BAILOT TO KEEP OUR LIVES DECENT!

  22. John Roberts

The USA, democracy, e.g., are all wonderful … it’s just the current people running the `show that makes us mad as heck! “A people deserves its government,” was never so true. In other words, if we keep these sorry elected officials in office, we have no one to blame for our strife except ourselves!
    GOD BLESS AMERICA!(again,please)

  23. Tommy B

Somethings wrong – our government has the money to bail out the automakers, bail out the insurers, bail out the banks and financial institutions that cheated the public, give cash for clunkers, consider giving cash for kitchen makeovers, and on and on and on.

So where does the money come from – I’ve got an idea…lets take it from our seniors. They are old and going to die soon anyway. In fact, lets make seniors 65 and over the last to receive the swine flu immunizations. With luck we can get rid of a lot of them and not have to pay back the social security funds that they paid for through a lifetime of work.

And Obama wants us to believe that taking care of the older generation is a priority. Anyone who believes that deserves exactly what we are now getting.

I’m one of the seniors affected and I’m sick and tired of the treatment we are getting. If I were healthy enough to march and protest I would. Sadly I’m not so I guess I will just die gracefully.

  24. WILLIAM MONTERO

There have been many years when inflation was much greater than the COLA received by soc. sec. increased payments. I am 72 years old and I also volunteer to help other seniors
less fortunate that me. I do not see how our government can in good concious not give an increase to the elderly, when most every day needs keep on increasing. Yet the government has enough to bail out companies and banks some of who spent part of the money for bonuses and redecorating offices, etc. I guess the politicians do not get it nor do they care. We are worst enemies. we will not correct this situation until we vote everyone out of office and revamp the current system where the politians only take care of themselves and their contributors.

  25. Ray Joiner

What is it some of you whiners don’t understand about the meaning of “Cost of Living Adjustment”? If the consumer price index has not gone up, or has gone down, it is a contradiction in terms to have a COLA. This is the problem with the selfish spirit of our times: Everything is me, me, me. Each little group wants to be special and favored. I am 65, semi-retired, and drawing a small Social Security benefit. So I will be going without the COLA, which I view as understandable and normal given the circumstances.

  26. Jimmy Flowers

I can not believe congress is not giveing seniors thier
COLA raise in 2010 and 2011.after all it was us the people
on soc.sec. and va disability that has fought and bleed for
this great country all our lives.now Oboma someone that has
never had a real job and no one really knows anything about
    is takeing it away.
you can bet your boots that congress votes thierselves a big
hefty raise.my auto ins.increase aloan ate up my 2009 COLA.
and thats not inclueding groc, utilitys, and maney other riseing costs.we live for and need these yearly COLAS.

  27. charles waderlow

Yes you are too busy shoving billions at wars and taking jobs to other countries and not taxing them. You don’t care about old veterans or retirees. If you keep our s.s. raise, you know where you can put it.

  28. I agree with you Kim Smith. The Government is in charge of the people, not the people in charge of the Government.

I say lets strike..! I have cut my spending by 30% and will cut it even more next year. I buy only what I need now. They have been dipping in SSA for many years now for their pet projects and NEVER put any of it back.

Our Government is out of control..!

  29. Akers

Why Mr Obama have you taken it upon your shoulders to punish the sick and elderly people of this great nation? I am a 55 year old male with Epilepsy, Anxiety, and Diabetes on top of that. I am also a veteran of the US Army left over from the Vietnam War. My government has denied me veteran benefits for service connedt disability now you are dening me my yearly COLA, too. As it is, I have to live with my oldest son whom only works part-time himself. He can barely take care of himself now, you are asking him to pay out more money to help take care of me. Besides that, I have an Autistic child left in my care to look after as well, with no wife. Mr Obama you have put me and thousands of other disabled veterans, disabled people, and the elderly in a world of hurt. There is no way that you can convince me that you did not know all these things before making your dicission to cut out the COLA for 2010 and beyond. Why make the poorest people of America pay for the mistakes of the rich people. Think lone and hard about what you are doing Mr Obama, election time will be coming around again before you know it.

  30. DAMIAN ALEJANDRO

    GOOD TOMMYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. I drove a truck for almost forty years, working about 65-70hrs a week. i know i paid in more than my share. so whats up? wheres my money or credits as you call them?i am also a veteran.i live in a one room studio, i am disabled, iam broke with all my co-pays-coinsurance.does anyone in govt. go food shopping, buy gas, or get second hand clothes, my brother sends me his hand me downs, it reminds me when i was kid.i am very unhappy with the way the govt gives money to everyone but us.what happened to the ssdi, etc,i feel i paid my fair share in to the system. im not gonna beg the govt. im just not happy with them. they always find time to give themselves a raise, even the local poiticians gave themselves a raise this year.someday i hope your in my shoes or one of your close relitves or friends, maybe then youll see. yes i do vote, but i guess it wasnt heard! you will have to exuse my writing i couldnt afford private school.sorry if im not making you happy with compliments mr govt. im just fresh out of them by now. (you greedy PIGS) walk a mile in my shoes!!!!!!!

  32. Garth B

For all that is said, Congress, Obama or others cannot easily change the formula which governs SS COLA’s. An article which is well written by a retiree just like you explains the situation very well. We may not like it but the system is working the way it is designed.

As for the pay increases for the Administration, you put them in, you can boot them out. That is where we can do something about.

    http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/05/08/no-social-security-cola-in-2010/

  33. Ronald R Yates

Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) once remarked that “People generally get about what they deserve” So long as we continue to vote for Fric and Frac (Democrats and Republicans), Americans can expect to continue to be last on the politicians’ priority list.

To say that “deflation” is occurring is ridiculous. I just paid a $236.00+ electric bill. Do you think that the cost of electricity will decline over the next two years?

By the way, I voted for Ross Perot (x2) and I did NOT waste my vote. You did.

  34. Tina M.

I have to agree with those who feel slighted. I have been getting my COLA for 20 years now and as an average of $90 per year increase does help it doesn’t pay one single bill or help me buy enough food for the year.

All the griping doesn’t help. Get out your pens and paper OR get out your email and write away. Not just to your congress men but also to your newspapers. Let EVERYONE know how you feel but be sure and do it with LOGIC and not anger. Be aware of your words and not your emotions. Above all be sure and address the whole issue and not just a part of the issue. If you feel as strongly as I do about it and everyone works together we can make a difference.

Complaining amongst others here is great to get the feel of the issue and where everyone stands but don’t do that with the Newspapers, or your Congressmen. They will just throw it in the trash and move on. Don’t let them become complacent in thinking that a few people are upset. Get everyone you know, young and old, healthy and disabled, working and retired to send a letter.

Let’s show them we mean business and if it requires sending letters once a week do so until there is an answer to the public.

  35. Sharon B

Lets see, changing the COLA calculation for seniors might require a lot of work say like “an act of Congress”. WOW, go figure. Putting the burdon of our nations economy on the back of seniors is an insult. As these other bloggers have already said, prices are rising. My 92 year old father, WWII veteran, lives on Social Security. It is unthinkable that he would not receive an increase for 2 yeats or more. We are talking about milk money here – some raises are maybe 12.00 a month. Wow, that would break the government. It’s time to BAIL OUT THE SENIORS NOW.

  36. Margaret Lashley

I wish I got $1200.00 or $1100.00, I get $648.00 -Medicare Part B. I too am mad, but I know who to blame. Inflation is still here, everyone complains about the prices so it would follow something else is going on. I will tell you what it is. The largest COLA ever was given for 2009, and they tied this to it to make the next person in office look bad. Bush and his cronies are plainly insane and greedy, so in their mind they felt this would look worse then all he & they did. Don’t ever forget that the Congress that served with him is guilty, too. So, the Republicans will grab us by the throat again in the next election, because people will fall for this and other things in the works. What I worry about is their next time around they will deconstruct Social Security. Just think if Bush had gotten his way and it had been invested in private accounts in all those banks and corporations that failed, causing the stockmarket to crash where the rest of the money was invested. It use to be that Democrats were for the poor and working class, and Republicans were for the rich and big business, but some Democrats have slid sideways. The best thing to do is not elect them to Congress again! When only 30% of the people in this country vote, there can never be a change for the better. There are a lot more of us than them, but the rich and big business run the show because they bribe and they VOTE! Voter turn out was much larger this last election than usual, so all the cheating and dirty tricks of the last 2 elections could not overcome the tide of voters. That is where the power is. People should not be afraid of their government; their government should be afraid of them.

  37. Wendy B. Pierce

The formula was designed to calculate the annual Cola but we can always stand up for ourselves and ask for a raise. This is how the rich get richer and congressman keep their pockets overflowing with money. They complain like us but better and more effectively. We need to all write to the congressman and request justice. We need to research where our letters will be most read and considered. I live on SSI and only make $673.00 a month. We need to take our dissatisfaction and turn it into proactive movement for a change in the way the COLA is formulated. Start typing your letters my friends.

OMG, how many times do I have to hear Obama blamed for trying to at least do something ,other then sit on his backside, about the problems he inherited. Hindsight is 20-20 and only the future will tell is he has made the correct decisions or not.

Some began degrading him his first month in office. I reserved my opinion until I see the net result. Well he has not spent his first month or year in office adjusting his office chair so it fits his butt right. Be them right or wrong, he has made decisions and taken action.

I am on SSD and DAC and have been for the last 20 years. My COLA’s have not kept pace with the minimum wage. I get less now then the last year I worked, 20 years ago, even with 20 years of COLA’s. How do you blame Obama for, lets see..how many COLA’s before he had any say in the matter? I guess he makes for an easy big name figure head to blame of all of lifes woes.

I was counting on some increase this year to bring my finances out of the red. Another one time payment would help, but I would just like to know one way or the other so I can work my long term budget.

The bottom line: We are in unusual times. Quit arguing and fighting and playing politics. Make a decision then follow through with it.

    Margaret Lashley says:
…People should not be afraid of their government; their government should be afraid of them.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say that but you already did.
    I will add:
    Famous Thomas Jefferson Quote
“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. …
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
    It is its natural manure.”

This is an outrage It is ridicuolous that the president and congress are not looking out for people who have served there time or who can not work. Have they seen what a lb of hamburger costs probably not because they are too busy feasting on their filet minion while we are trying to figure out how 1 lb of hamburger will feed 4 people. It reminds me of medival times we are treated like the peasants and the ones who make all the money are treated like kings well I am tired of eating there crumbs. I believe the government will not be happy till all old and disabled people are living on the street is this there way of weeding us out….are they being like the eskimos if you are old and can not work they send you off on the ice out to sea to die. The government is treating us like we are not worth anything because we do not or can not work. I am still waiting for this “change” maybe the president meant that is all we will have left in our pockets…..

  41. Lisa Smith

screw all you effers that say there was no inflation in 2009. unbelievable. everything is still priced the same but the packaging has gotten smaller, yarnell ice, cream, charmin tissue, i could go on for days with it. gas is ridiculous, television (cable) has gone up again, but people “like us” have no business having cable in the first place, do we?, or any other so called luxury in life. our teeth fall out, our eyes go bad and we get no help with that either. doesn’t matter if we’re toothless and blind does it? some of us couldn’t get a job if we wanted one because we’re not given enough money to be one of the beautiful people. i am sick to death of being robbed, when i saw my social security check with that ridiculous explanation about “no inflation” i sat there and cried. how do we ever get ahead? I had a wreck that almost killed me, and i have had cancer as well, and i feel downright disposable right now. i dread another year of living on the same amount that barely got me through 2009. screw them all…

Protecting Our Social Security Benefit: A Call to Action

Active concerned/senior citizens expect their elected/governmental officials (national, state and local) to protect our Social Security (and Medicare benefits).
Seniors are concerned that in 2010 our Social Security was not increased for the first time in thirty-five years. Furthermore, there are no Social Security increases (cost of living/COLA) projected for the next two years! These projections currently use the CPI-W adjustment index method (Consumer Price Index that, in fact, tracks the spending habits of younger workers/consumers… not seniors).
In contrast, our basic living costs/expenses have been increasing… sometimes substantially (e.g. basic necessities like food, energy/utilities, medical/healthcare costs)… so that the current projection method (CPI-W) is obviously not working in the best interests of our senior/elderly citizens.
We call upon… expect… our government to better protect our benefits:
    • Promote policies/laws that minimize inflation (especially for basic necessities). This benefits the entire general population… especially those on a fixed income.
    • Replace the CPI-W index with a more equitable/realistic indexing method like the CPI-E (tracks the spending habits of senior/elderly consumers over 62 years of age).
In short, minimizing inflation and using the proper index would protect our Social Security benefit.
    ———-
The real inflation being experienced by the consumer, at least in this part of the country, is actually substantially above zero (0) percent: food (10%); energy/utilities electricity(10%), water/sewer (25%), telephone/land line (7%), gas/motor fuel (70% from approx. $1.60/gal to $2.70); and medical/healthcare: Medicare Part B/deducts from S.S. check (15% started Jan 2010 for new).

Note: In 1975 Congress had the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) establish the current COLA adjustment method (CPI-W) to better protect our Social Security benefit (i.e. standard of living). In 1987 Congress further directed that the BLS begin calculating a new index (CPI-E) that would better track/maintain a senior/elderly standard of living (i.e. the purpose of the COLA to begin with). Now is the time for us to revisit this question… to align the intent with actual/today’s reality…

  44. Ronalod

Yup, this idiot Obama has set the bar so low, that nobody can live under it unless you are in Congress where you vote in your own salary. Who gave them the right to do this????
Republicans are for “Big Business” and got us into this, now
the Democrats [who say they are for the little man] have:
    1. Made it manditory [originally voluntary]
    2. Made SS taxable [it wasn’t taxable originally]
    3. Put it in General Fund [where it is accessible to the
    rest of the Government]
    4. Now they take away the COLA…….
Let’s get rid of both parties and start over.
This Government is no longer “Of the People and For the
People”. Obama wants to be a dictator and Bush set it up by
enacting the “Patriot Act” which gives him carte-blanc to do as he pleases. On election day kick all the encumbants
[those with seats already in Govt’t] out and vote in a whole new Congress. And by all means get rid of Obama!!!!!

Heather, I read an article stating that Social Security recipients would be receiving a $250 stimulus check before the end of March (2010). I hope this is true!

Govt today is broken and needs to be fixed. With Congress at a 11% approval rating I think it’s far too high. They vote themselves a pay raise, they vote themselves more staff at full salaries, they exempt themselves from Obamacare, they have their own lush retirement exempting themselves once more from our social security..and now they give us NO COLA… vote them all out..and I don’t want to hear one more person supporting the Marxist we have in the whitehouse…and all they do is keep blaming BUsh..Bush was bad enough only topped by the Kenyan..
