The Globe-Trotting Golfer’s Guide to Retirement

The Globe-Trotting Golfer’s Guide to Retirement is a different type of retirement guide. I was giving a free copy of this book to review. It isn’t a financial how to retire kind of book. Instead it focuses more on lifestyle issues during retirement. One of the more enlightening parts of the book is when the author explains the value of your retirement years. Since you only have so many active years in retirement every year of retirement has great value and those at the beginning of retirement have even more value. This is a great reason to retire early.

In addition to early planning he also gives advice on how to maintain marital harmony after retirement and how to occupy your time during retirement. Given the title you shouldn’t be surprised that one of his favorite ways to spend his time during retirement is playing golf. Even if you don’t play golf though you should find the section on golf interesting and I found it intriguing enough that I’m considering taking up golf.

The last part of the book covers travel. The author devotes much of his retirement time to travel. He gives some information on choosing where and how to travel. He also provides plenty of details of the places he and his wife have visited which should prove helpful for those who are deciding where to travel.

This is a different type of retirement guide and I would suggest it to anyone who is wondering how they will manage their time once they retire. If you’re interested please click through one of the Amazon affiliate links to purchase the book or read more about it.

Yes, I agree. Planning to retirement has not to do just with financial matters. It has also to do with the lifestyle. And I think that both of them are intertwined. The way you live is going to affect how much money you are going to spend.
It looks like an interesting book. I am going to get a copy of it. Thanks for sharing this.

What a fantastic book! We’ve been recommending it to our clients as well. Over the last few years, we’ve been working with developers to create a new master-planned community in the Black Hills of South Dakota that is centered around an executive golf course. Many of the people who are interested in building homes and living at the Elkhorn Ridge Golf Estates (www.elkhornridgegolfestates.com) are retirees and avid golfers, and they tell us the same thing– golf is one of the greatest parts of retirement. Thank you for sharing!

I have not read the book but it appears it was intended to help people better prepare for their retirement. I am going to get the book and would think that if my blog was posted on yours it would be one more bit of information for people to consider
